A few months ago Crestwood students were tasked with the challenge of writing personal narratives, with the possibility of representing Crestwood in our submission to the InCITE publication – a writing competition taking place across the CIS.  Adjudicated by Toronto writer Katrina Onstad, our grade 7 submission by Georgia Gardner was optioned to participate in

Ms. Lee’s Math students explored the relationship between the number of faces, vertices and edges in 3-D shapes by creating a variety of polyhedrons using toothpicks and marshmallows. At the end of the activity, some groups made “epic” shapes to prove that the relationship still held true for more complex polyhedrons. [nggallery id=42]  

This week Ms. McCourt’s grade 11 drama class presented their completely original, workshopped musical “Super Messed -Up”, about super hero teens in a high school that have to stop evil from world domination. Welcome to the world of the glorified doodle! Ms. Cooper’s grade 7 art students choose an image of their favourite animal and learned how to draw it by breaking it down to simpler shapes. From here, they used fine point markers and used a cross hatching technique to shade in the face of their animal.

Congratualtions to Georgia Gardner ’19, who has been invited to the InCITE writing workshop this weekend for her short story submission. Georgia will workshop her writing with Katrina Onstad this weekend and has a chance to be selected to be published later this year.  Way to go Georgia!      

Polo shirts will be allowed to be worn beginning Monday.  Please note that regular uniform rules apply – track pants or non-Crestwood sweaters are not allowed to be worn during school hours. If you are interested in purchasing a Crestwood Preparatory College Polo shirt, the uniform shop will be open at 8:00 am on Monday morning.

Congratulations to this year’s Grade 11 inter-grade debating champions Jasmin Katz and Justin Memar! Through wit and rigorous logical argumentation Justin and Jasmin successfully defended the resolution that doctors should not have to provide services which they personally disagree with on religious grounds.  Great work guys!

The group performed beautifully and received a trophy for a First Place ranking and a rating of “Excellent”.
