On Thursday at lunch, the debating season at Crestwood finished with the crowning of the Grade 10 Intragrade Debating Champions.  The resolution debated was “Be it resolved that a picture is worth a thousand words.”  On the government side were Carol Li and Carol Gu, and arguing for the opposition were Ivy Liu and Spencer Arshinoff. 

As part of their filming unit in Communication Technology (TGJ), our grade 9 students spent the last few weeks planning, filming, and editing Public Service Announcements (PSAs). These PSAs include topics such as anti-bullying, spatial awareness, and the danger of texting and walking. During the upcoming weeks, we will be sharing some of these PSAs

Several Crestwood students submitted their photographs for the “Our Safe Spaces” Photography Contest of Toronto. This year, students were to take a photo of what they thought a “safe space” was. Last week the CHC class completed its last set of field investigations for their oral history interviews.  Mr. Masters and Mr. Hawkins took a group of 20 Grade 9 and 10 history students to the Baycrest Geriatric Centre on Bathurst Street, where they had the opportunity to interview four Holocaust survivors about their wartime experiences.

Next week is Bullying Awareness Week at Crestwood. The Female Peer Leadership Group will be organizing several events throughout the week to bring awareness to bullying in schools.
