Co-ed Softball Dominant

This week the U12 softball team began a two game winning streak against Holy Trinity School (HTS) on Monday and Pickering College on Wednesday. Led by Crestwood’s very own dynamic coaching duo of Mr.Cooper and Mr.Greenacre, the team picked up their very first two victories of the season. HTS put up a good fight in the beginning taking an early lead 1-0. The Cubs answered right back and scored an additional run to tie up the game. As the innings progressed HTS stepped up their game and batted in 3 more runs. Desperate for their first win the Cubs would not surrender easily. Next, Crestwood was up to bat. The hitters stood their ground against the visiting squad. Hits were flying all over the place and we finished with a jaw-dropping 5-run inning, which led to the score being 8-4 for the Cubs. In the post match interview, Fred Pikul stated ¨The game was a life or death situation for us. It feels great to finally dominate and end up victorious. Great win guys! Let’s keep up the good work against Pickering on Wednesday.”

Who would have guessed that those words would encourage the Cubs to secure their second win of the season?

Out numbered by the opposing host team and missing 4 of their most vital players, the Crestwood Cubs came into the game against Pickering College with a heart full of confidence and a determined mind. They took the field by storm with superb style and delivered one of the best games in Crestwood history, to date. The game started out slow but soon developed into a dominant effort by Crestwood. The Pickering fielders were no match for Crestwood’s heavy hitters. The consistent effort displayed allowed the team to pick up early momentum and after some great plays from the fielders Liam Wagner, Adam Grunberg and Fred Pikul in the last inning, David Lawee wrapped up the game with a superb diving catch. It ended 6-0 Crestwood. A hard fought and deserved win indeed. Good luck next week!
