U14 Lady Lions Win Bronze!

Basketball

The U14 Lady Lions traveled to Havergal College last Saturday to compete in the CISAA U14 Division 1 Championships.  The Lady Lions played the tournament hosts in their first game, but came up short, losing 47-33, against a very strong, very deep, Grade 8 dominant team.  In the Bronze medal game, the U14 Lions Lions took on BSS.  Although, the team got to a slow start, our Lady Lions were victorious, winning the game 32-26.  Great play by all throughout the season, especially the grade 8 girls moving up to Junior next year, Saleah Joseph, Ella Lee-O’Rourke, Amy Cai, Lauren Levinsky, Ryann Hiltz, Chloe Wertkin, and Kaila Lewin.  Coaches Newton and Tanev, are very proud of you and thank you for a great season.

The Crestwood Junior Girls’ Basketball Team remains undefeated as we head into championships this coming Saturday! The lady lions dominated the court yet again with a strong lead against Branksome Hall after the first quarter. Special thanks to Saleah Joseph for bringing her skills to the court and thanks to all our girls for their team effort! Please come and support the Junior Girls’ this coming Saturday for their games at Crestwood at 9am and again at 1pm!

Monday our Lady Lions visited Branksome Hall for their final game of the regular season.  Although short handed, the Lions were able to dominate the visitor’s floor.  Led by Shayeann Day-Wilson and the amazing performance of grade 7 Tinamarie Otchere.  Tinamarie came off the bench and poured in 14 points for the win.  Final score 50-30 Crestwood.

This past weekend our Senior Girls’ Prep Basketball Team participated in The Colts Classic which saw the best high school and prep programs in Ontario and Quebec.  Led by Shayeann Day-Wilson and Latasha Lattimore, the Lady Lions finished with a record of 4-1 on the weekend.  Areej Burgonio earned player of the game in one game and Shayeann Day-Wilson was named to the All-Tournament team.

Volleyball

The Senior Boys’  Volleyball Team traveled to Bayview Glen for their first playoff game Wednesday. Although the boys fought hard, they fell 3 sets to 1 and ended the playoff run. Coaches Peerenboom and Wan would like to thank the team for such a great season. Good job, team!

Soccer

On a cold, windy, and rainy Monday, the Junior Boy’s Soccer Team traveled to Simcoe, Ontario to participate in a tournament as a warm-up for their upcoming playoffs.  Our focus was to work on our team work, while also splitting playing time to keep everyone fresh and healthy for the playoffs.  All three games were played very competitively and it was great to see the boys support each other all day.  They included a few FIFA quality goals from Alex Korda and Dustin Silverberg, incredible saves by Tim Kufner, and relentless effort from both Levi Tillis and Ali Farroukh.
