U14 Volleyball

This week the U14 Crestwood Lions Volleyball team traveled to The York School.  After a tough loss in the first set, CPC came back with a vengeance.  Between Maddie Horne’s ace serves and Megan Pearlman and Julia Fallows’ leadership on the court, Crestwood won the second set 25-13. With momentum on our side, the Lions went into the third set, gaining a strong lead of 10-3. However TYS did not give up, pushing back to a score of 23-21 for CPC. With 2 more points for the win, Rachel Mintz went up to serve an ace and after a final nail biting rally, the Lions took the win!

Varsity Swimming

On Wednesday, our Varsity Swim Team travelled to Brock University to compete in their third meet of the season. It was a fantastic meet, with some fast racing! Every single swimmer improved in at least one of their events, which is outstanding!
Special recognition goes to Justin Lim and Matti MacLachlan, who both won 3 of their 4 events.
Grade 12 student, Andrew Gdanski, swam his best meet yet, breaking 1 minute 10 seconds in his 100 free, and 30 seconds in his 50 free.
Our Open Boys Medley Relay took home the gold, consisting of Matti, Andrew, Justin, and Joseph Zuckerman.
Congratulations to Andrew, Audrey Melkoumov, Alexa Gibson, Joseph, Sarah Douey, Alex Fallows and Marina Nevison for individual top-8 finishes. Our U15 Girls and Boys Free Relays, as well as our U15 Girls Medley Relay also found themselves in the top-8.
Coach Wappel is so impressed by the team’s hard work and performance, and is looking forward to heading to Newmarket next week for another meet!

U14 Hockey

The U14 Hockey Team took on our Lower School in an Exhibition game over at Fenside Arena.  The Upper School won, 12-3. Great play by all, especially Peter Hull who removed his player equipment to dawn some goaltender equipment and played a good game in goal. Cheer us on next week when we play Wednesday and Friday at home for our last two home games of the season.

Varsity Female Athlete of the Month: Alexa Gibson

Alexa is swimming for the Varsity swim team this year.  She has been training hard at swim practice while juggling school and other sport commitments. She is always looking for ways to improve her technique, and is a positive person on the team. She has been dropping time at each swim meet too!  In addition to the swim team Alexa is also the goalie for the U14 boys hockey team.  Her work in net has currently put the team in 1st place with only a few more games to go.

Varsity Male Athlete of the Month: Emre Demirsu
