Curling

It’s been a busy week for the Curling Teams!

The Varsity Boys Curling team travelled to Toronto Cricket Club early this week for their game against Toronto French School. The Boys jumped off to an early lead, stealing the first two ends on the strength of fantastic shots by Skip Matt Holland. The Boys kept up the pressure, with great plays by Spencer and Gaby in the front end. Adam Golden’s clutch shots at Vice kept Crestwood in the game, but ultimately two strong ends from TFS would make the difference in the 6-3 game.  However, the boys did experience their first victory later in the week. Spencer, Gaby, Adam and Matt started the game with a 4 point first end, and they did not let up from there. The final score was Crestwood 11, Crescent 1!

The Open Team, skipped by Daven Siu, won a nail biting 5-3 victory over Crescent’s Open Team. The match came down to the final stones of the 6th end, and phenomenal shots by Hyeun Jun and Daven. Along with amazing sweeping by Bowen, Crestwood held on to the lead and claimed the victory. This was the Open Team’s second victory this week, having defeated Montcrest on Tuesday.

Junior Boys Basketball

On Wednesday, the Junior Boys Basketball team hosted LCS as part of our Spirit Week celebrations. After last week’s loss to TCS, the boys made sure to get out to a quick start and took a 16-2 lead into the second quarter. Crestwood’s dominant play would continue for the rest of the game resulting in a 41-25 win. The win improves the team’s record to 5-1. Special shout out to Erik Usher who scored a dominant 20 points. Well done to the entire team on a hard fought win.

Senior Boys Basketball

On Wednesday, afternoon the Senior Boys Basketball team played in their annual Spirit Week game against Lakefield. The boys got off to a slow start trailing 11 -8 in the first quarter. The team gathered their composure and slowly but surely took control of the game. With strong play by Ahmed Izzeldin controlling the down low play, Mert Tutcu with his great defensive play and highlight reel layup, Tristan Lim with his strong defensive play, Sultan Salih for his strong leadership and court awareness, and Ted Kang and Noah Aaron for controlling the flow of the game. The Boys would like to thank the students and staff for their support yesterday!

U14 Swimming

The U14 Swimmers kicked off to a splashing start in yesterday’s CISAA meet.  Armin Selzner and Bora Kutun had an impressive day with Armin placing first in 50m freestyle and third in 50m butterfly, and Bora placing second in 50m breaststroke and second in 100m freestyle.

Vincent Li and Julian Vinizki pushed their personal best in 100m freestyle, while Alice Shen, Taylor Kronick, Monica Altshuler, Sydney Zuckerman, Robert Muresan, Hannah Cohen pushed themselves to beat their last records in both 50m freestyle and 50m breaststroke.

Our first timer Justin Soberman showed determination and speed as he dominated his heat. Keep up the great work swimmers!

Senior Girls Volleyball

This week the Senior Girl’s Volleyball team took on first place Pickering College. Despite a hard fought first set and great communication on the court, the ladies were unable to overcome the strong offensive game of PC. Final scores were 20-25, 10-25, and 14-25.  Special mention goes to Angel Han who played her best game yet with several great hits and net play.
