Sports Update

The Lions have had a successful week! A full practice schedule can be found here.

U14 Volleyball

The U14 Girl’s Volleyball team travelled to SJK for their first game of the near year. The Lions started off a bit rusty; losing the first two sets 25-16. However, CPC turned it around to win the last set 25-8 with some ace serves from Sarah Zhang and Maddie Horne. Good job ladies!

Junior Volleyball

Congratulations to the Junior Girls Volleyball team on their win this week against Bayview Glen. Although it took 5 sets, Crestwood was able to come out victorious. Keep up the great volleyball ladies!

Senior Volleyball

This week  the Senior Girl’s Volleyball team put in a valiant team effort to sweep Bayview Glen in 3 straight sets. The scores were 25-10, 25-15 and a nail-biting 3rd set of 31-29. Great job ladies!

Varsity Swimming

Our Varsity Swim Team had their second meet of the season on Wednesday in Newmarket. Despite a lack of training over the break, the team performed excellently! Two of our swimmers won their events, with Matti MacLachlan dominating the 50 Free and 100 Back, and Sarah Douey taking first place in the 50 back.

We had many swimmers move up the ranks this meet, with twelve top-8 finishes. Special recognition for this goes to Marina Nevison, Joseph Zuckerman, Audrey Melkoumov, Andrew Gdanski, Alexa Gibson, and our U15 Male and Female Relay Teams.

We’re excited to see what the team can do at our next meet at Brock University!

Junior Basketball

This week the Junior Boys Basketball team travelled to Bayview Glen to kick-start the second half of their season. The team opened the game with a 10-0 run, lead by a stifling defense and the sharing of the ball on offense. After Bayview Glen clawed their way back to take a 26-23 lead at halftime, the boys came out charged and ready to go for the third quarter. In a display of dominance that caused the once boisterous Bayview Glen crowd to fall silent, boys outscored the opposition 35-13 over the rest of the game. Shout outs to Emre Desiru and Tomer Tarsky who lead the team with 15 and 10 points respectively.

Hockey

On Thursday the U14 Hockey Team travelled to Leaside Memorial to face Greenwood College a very exciting game. Crestwood fell behind 2-1 midway through the first period but quickly regained the lead with goals for Cole Eichler and Aaron Little. With strong play by all in both ends of the ice, Crestwood was able to retake the lead and never look back, defeating Greenwood College 9-6. Great play by all, especially Cole, Aaron, Jake Katz, James Gilday, Jordan Sigel and Adam Bounsall. Crestwood now sits in first place in the division with a 3-1-1 record with 3 games left.  Keep up the good work!
