Sports Round Up

 Volleyball

The Jr. Boys Volleyball team travelled to Greenwood to play in a Tri-meet.  Their first game was against HTS and after losing the first set 25-6 the Lions came back with a vengeance.  With Matthew Nelsons’ amazing saves and Tahron Allen’s hits CPC won the next two sets taking home the win.

In the second game against Greenwood the boys came in energized from their win but fatigue began to set in.  Despite Julio Hollanda’s ace serves, Crestwood gave up two very close sets to Greenwood, coming home with a 1-1 record from the meet.

The Jr. Boys are now finished their regular season games and await the results to see who they will play in the playoffs next week!

Soccer

On Monday, October 24th, the junior boys’ soccer team played against UCC.  The first half was a defensive battle that saw very few chances created.  Unfortunately, we did end the half down 2-0.  The second half was a very different game as both teams pushed hard and traded numerous chances.  Michael and Rhys scored 2 goals each in the second half alone.  We came up just a bit short losing in the end 5-4.  The boys will play in a mini-tournament next Wednesday, November 2nd to finish off their season.

Yes…Mr. D’s U14 soccer team did it again as they beat Ridley College 2-0 to advance to this year’s semi-finals! Employing a 4-1-3-2 formation, Crestwood got out of the blocks early pressing their traveling opponents at every turn and creating opportunity after opportunity.

The first goal came half-way through the half as Jesse Codron took a splendid free kick just outside Ridley’s box and found nothing but net. Mr. D called it a “seeing eye goal!” The second tally cemented the victory as CPC struck again with none other than Jesse Codron, who this time displayed his dazzling dribbling skills. The rest of the team played their boots off as they never deviated from the game plan.

The team looks forward to it’s Saturday morning tilt against RSGC at De La Salle as its continue its journey towards the finals!

Cross Country

The Varsity Cross Country team raced at the CISAA Championship meet. The runners braved the cold weather, charged up the dreaded Mount Trinity hill and sprinted past their competitors.

Congratulations on a great season!

Basketball

The U-14 Girls Basketball Team continued in their winnings by defeating St. Clements, 57-26, remaining undefeated with a 6-0 record.  Great play by all players on both side of the court, especially Shayeann Day-Wilson who scored 20 points, Schymera Samuels who scored 19 points and Latasha Lattimore who scored 18.  Their victory last night solidified their chances of hosting this Saturday’s Final Four Championship Tournament at home.  The girl’s first game is at 9:00 am and all are welcome to come and watch.  Keep up the great work and let’s try and put up another banner on the gym wall.
