Girls Basketball Champions

Last weekend the Senior Girls Basketball team travelled to The York School to play in their CISAA Final Four Championship tournament.  The first game the girls played was against TMS. The girls got off to a slow start , but with the start of the 2nd quarter the girls found their legs and played very well on both ends of the court resulting in a crucial victory leading them into the finals against Albert College. What a finals it was!!  Areej Burgonio drained 30 pts and showed true gamesmanship and leadership, Jahnai Brown took care of the boards on both ends of the court,  Samantha Mintz gave hustle and great team play,  Willa Easton played extremely well down low, Graduating players Sydney Steinman hit crucial baskets and Jessica Weinberg dominated on the defensive end,  while Chelsea Baijnauth drained 3 pointers and Yurina Kobayashi and Nanako Nakayama provided their enthusiasm and team play throughout the day. The final score was Crestwood 47 –  Albert College 31. Ms. Chau and Mr.Pagano would like to congratulate all of the girls  and thank them for an excellent season. Special mention must go out to our graduating players Sydney Steinman, Jessica Weinberg, and Nancy Wang.

Also on the weekend the Junior Girls basketball team completed their undefeated season by winning the CISAA Finals in dramatic fashion.  With entire gym on the edge of their seats, Tianna Bailey hits huge 3 point shot with 6 seconds left pushing the team to an incredible 60-57 win.  With that shot the Lions became champions.  It was an amazing year for the girls as they got better each game.  The 2016 JCISAA Junior Girls Division 1 Champions are  Rachel Mintz, Tianna Bailey, Megan Pearlman, Faith Joseph, Georgia Gardner, Marina Nevison, Zakayla Day, Kaitlyn Balter, and Jadaia Reid. Special thanks to coach Lethem and Davis.
