On Thursday April 18, 2013, nine Gr. 10 Crestwood Preparatory College students participated in the 10 year Anniversary of YPI (Youth and Philanthropy Initiative), a signature program of the Toskan Casale Foundation, which provides secondary school students with a hands-on, reality-based experience through a strong academic philanthropy course which gives them the skills to assess the needs of their community and make grants to grassroots, community based charities meeting those needs. YPI will empower young people to authentically participate in the development of their communities, engaging them as dedicated problem solvers and volunteers. YPI promotes a sense of responsibility, respect and a commitment to building compassionate communities. This years winners were Jessie Cooke, Sifana Jalal, Sam Downey and Lucas Gold who presented on behalf of Covenant House and with their efforts, they received a $5000 grant from YPI for their charity to use. Good job you guys!
