Sports Update

On January 19th, the Jr. Boys Basketball team travelled to the northern region of Ontario for a game against Rousseau Lake College. The boys jumped out to a quick lead in the first quarter with superior ball movement and rebounding. The team was led by the unselfish play of Emre Desiru, who racked up eight assists, and Kabier Izzeldin with some tenacious rebounding. The second half was much of the same, punctuated by the hot hand of Ted Kang. Mr. Findlay would like to thank the entire team for demonstrating sportsmanship and fair play throughout the game.

Congratulations to the Senior Girls Volleyball Team on their win on Monday against the Toronto French School. It was a total team effort that was highlighted by Shanel, Brooklyn, Crystal and Jasmin’s incredible net play; Marina, Anna and Izabella’s fantastic serving; and Madeleine, Meghan, and Molly’s amazing defense. Great job ladies!

On Wednesday the Varsity Boys Hockey team won 7-4 against Greenwood College. The boys played a great game, that saw John Mainprize net a hat trick, Andrew Haynes scored a pair, and Kory White, and Josh Elin rounded out the scoring with one a piece. The final outcome may have been a bit different if it wasn’t for the goaltending of Benji Gertin. Benji shut the door for most of the game, making many spectacular saves which allowed the boys a chance to stay in the game and capitalize on further scoring opportunities.

On January 21st , the Jr. Boys Basketball team hosted Lakefield College as part of our ongoing spirit week celebrations. After a slow start, the boys began to build a lead that they would not relinquish, thanks to the hot shooting of Emre Desiru and the interior defense of Mert Tutco and Matthew Gionnas. In the second half, David McCall and Ty Ellis played some tough man to man defense. Congratulations to the Jr. Boys team on a great game.
