Senior Boys Rugby

Congratulations to the Senior Boys rugby team who captured the CISAA Rugby 7’s Championships on Wednesday!  The boys began the day with a semi-final win over Albert College by a score of 5-0. This moved them on to the championship game against Pickering College. This was a back and forth battle between the teams, but Crestwood’s speed and team defense lead the boys to a 15-12 victory!  Mrs. Newton and Mr. Pagano would like to thank the entire team for all their hard work and dedication throughout the season. Congratulations to our graduating seniors – Andrew Gdanski, Luca Letteri, Rohan Narayanan, Aidan Reilly and Liam Wilkinson.  As well we look forward to a three-peat with our returning seniors – Brandon Baijnauth, Braden Harris, Justin Lim, Chris Sanders, Artie Shlykov, Mert Tutcu, and Aren Karshafian.

U14 Track and Field

On Wednesday, the U14 Track and Field team competed at the CISAA Championship meet at York University.

Congratulations to Sarah Zhang, Zach Halpern and Ryan Ross for surviving in the heat and achieving personal best times in their events!

Varsity Track and Field

On Thursday,, two track and field athletes represented CPC at Birchmount Stadium, for the Track and Field Metro Championships.  Congratulations to Jahnai Brown and Derek Boecker, who qualified for this meet at the CISAA Championships just a couple of weeks ago.

Jahnai balanced two events at the same time, running back and forth between triple jump and shotput. Derek was able to concentrate on his sole event of long jump, and was only 10 cm away from competing in the second round.

Great job to both athletes for making it to this level of competition!

Varsity Boys Softball

The Varsity Boys Softball team completed their season on Wednesday with a tournament in Richmond Hill.

In the first game against Appleby, the boys were down 9-6 heading into the final inning, after a slow start to the game where their bats were not clicking. The team erupted for 10 runs in the final inning, however, and were able to hold on for a thrilling 16-13 come-from-behind win that was capped by a Grand Slam from David McCall.

In the second game against Lakefield, the boys again got off to a slow start, and were down 9-0 after two innings.  Again the team came back, and were able to tie the game 12-12 heading into the bottom of the final inning.  Unfortunately, with no margin for error, the team surrendered a final run, and lost a very tight game 13-12, to even their record for the day at 1-1.

Thank you to the team for the spirited effort!

Badminton

Yesterday, the Junior and Senior Badminton players participated in the CISAA Badminton Championship at Crescent school and at the Pan Am Centre in Markham.

Congratulations to Gavin Wei who won first place in his category, Boys Single, and won a gold medal.
