Sock it to Me!

Did you know there are over 5,000 homeless people in Toronto? These people stay in homeless shelters, or sleep on the streets.  These people count on donations of food and clothes from people like you and me.  Did you know that socks are among the most needed items at homeless shelters, but are one of the least donated items?  People tend to wear their socks until they have holes them, and then they throw them out!  This means that not many pairs of socks make their way to donation bins.  Because of this shortage, the homeless populations are constantly at risk of serious foot disease and in the winter are in severe danger posed by the cold weather.

But we can help!  On Wednesday, January 25th Crestwood will show how much we care!  All you have to do is bring a package of brand new socks to school to donate to a local shelter, and you can wear your craziest, brightest, tallest socks to school all day long!  If every student brings one bag of socks, we will help create many happy toes in Toronto.

So remember, bring an unopened package of socks to donate, and wear your crazy socks all day long on Wednesday, January 25th.
