Royal Canada Legion Remembrance Contest

Every November, Crestwood history students are encouraged to participate in the Royal Canadian Legion’s annual Remembrance Day contest. The contest, with categories for visual art, poetry and prose writing, asks students across the country to reflect on the overall theme of remembrance, and apply their creative talents to that theme.

We were very happy to send in many entries this year, and are overjoyed to share the exceptional results with you. In the poetry category, Kathryn Tuns, Madelyn Tuns, Aydin Ansari, Greg Angelakos, Jolie Drummond, Oliva Chodat and Andrianna Ellinidis were all recognized for their contributions by Legion Branch 614. Charles Jian, Jack Wang, Nathaniel Adams, Kevin Chen, and Eric Zang all received commendations for their essays and prose writing submissions. Crestwood’s visual artists had exceptional success, with Jiwon Min, George Papaconstantinos, Karina Filipiuk and Simran Anand all receiving recognition for their artwork.

This year, perhaps more than ever, we are extremely proud that Crestwood’s students are taking the time to reflect and remember the important sacrifices made by young men and women during some of Canada’s darkest moments.
