Dear Parents,

November has been a month filled with lots of wonderful learning experiences and exciting virtual events. The month started out with our much anticipated Book Fair! Thank you to all the parent volunteers who helped organize and facilitate this fabulous event. A big thank you to Ms. Bafaro for all her hard work putting it together for our students.

We hope you all enjoyed meeting with your child’s teachers for Parent Conferences last week. While we wish we could have welcomed you into the school, all the teachers are appreciative of you taking the time to meet to discuss your child’s progress. A reminder that 1st term report cards will be mailed out on Friday, December 17th.

A BIG thank you to Dr. Sergio Borgia and Dr. Isaac Bogoch for facilitating an extremely informative Q and A session this week. On behalf of all the parents in our community, we would like to let you know that your knowledge and expertise has provided clarity for many families on the matter of vaccinating children in the 5-11 age group.

The Grade 6 cohort had the pleasure of hearing Andy Reti speak about his experience as a Holocaust survivor. Thank you to Ms. Metz for facilitating this inspiring and meaningful experience.  Maya Kassam has written about her reflections on the speaker – please click on the link to her article in this week’s newsletter. We have also included a link to the recorded session if you’d like to watch it; Mr. Reti is quite remarkable!

Finally, Crestwood Cares community service team has kicked off their next initiative. Your family should have received a letter about Hopital Albert Schweitzer and our plan to “Skip It for HAS”. Please discuss with your child what treat or privilege they might skip this week, and donate the money to HAS instead. Remember to fill out your house colour leaf and bring it in with your donation. Donations can be in cash or a cheque made out to Crestwood School. We will be having a school wide virtual assembly on Monday to hear more about HAS and actually ZOOM with members of the hospital in Haiti. If you’d like more information on the hospital, please click on the link below.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend. Happy Chanukah to those families celebrating this weekend. We are looking forward to a great end to Term 1 in the coming weeks!
