U9 Bball Top TFS

The U9 basketball team played TFS on Tuesday afternoon at Glendon. It was a defensive battle throughout the game with a final score of 12-8 for Crestwood. Gr.6 Explore Electricity

On Wednesday and Thursday, the Grade 6’s took part in a great Scientists in School session all about electricity.  Students explored static and current electricity, built series and parallel circuits, tested conductors and insulators, explored electromagnets, simple motors, and used their own energy to power a generator.  With Scientist Peter’s guidance, students were able to apply

Be the Change: Sponsorship Update

The Crestwood community “brought the love” again this week for Gilo, Thomas, and Toni, our sponsored students in Tanzania. On Valentine’s Day, Crestwood students contributed toonies to don their red, white, and pink clothes for the day.  We raised $387 in support of our sponsorship initiative. Way to go! Candy-Gram Valentine’s Day with YAARD

Crestwood’s YARRD (Youth against Racial and Religious Discrimination) held its annual Valentine’s Day Candy-Gram Toonie Grub Day.  All week long students have been hard at work preparing for the event, buying, selling, and making Candy-Grams, which were delivered Wednesday in homeroom.  Proceeds will go to support Native Child, maintaining Crestwood’s commitment to reconciliation.

Crestwood’s Chinese New Year

Last Friday, February 9th the Crestwood Community came together to celebrate the Spring Festival, or Chinese New Year. Students, parents and teachers gathered together to eat, celebrate and welcome the “year of the dog”. Crestwood students participated in UTMUN last weekend, braving the snow and the perils of international diplomacy as they debated and passed resolutions, and staved off or caused grave international conflict!  Congratulations to all the students, with a special mention to Tristan Agensky for his delegate award.

The Kids Lit Quiz Competition

On Monday, Mr. Jull led a group of Grade 7 and 8 students to the Mattamy Athletic Centre at Ryerson University to participate in the Toronto Regional Heat of the Kids Lit Quiz competition.  This is an international contest where teams of elementary-aged students answer questions from the genres of classical and contemporary children’s literature.

The Future Design School – Kids of Tomorrow!

Ella Lee-O’Rourke (class of ’22), Chiara Codron (class of ’23), Kian Torabi (class of ’22) spent their PA day at this year’s Future Prize 2018 organized by Future Design School. Our Crestwood team named “Kids of Tomorrow!”  spent five hours prior to the contest to survey and interview users and research possible solutions. The group decided
