Love of Community

One of the new students at Crestwood in September 2018 was Joseph Gamus-Rayson (aka Just Real) – 5B (Mr. Munro’s class).  He loves the community of Crestwood from Ms. Eisen and Ms. Badler to his fellow students, his teachers and to the staff.   He appreciates not only the academics but the many activities offered here.  Many of you can also see him dancing in the hallways.  When Joseph is not dancing here, he can be found most of the week after school and on the weekends at Simply Swagg Dance Studio which is run by Paul “Kaze” Thurton.  This is where Joseph feels the love of the urban dance community in Hip Hop, Break Dancing and Krump.  Joseph is part of a Hip Hop crew – the Sigmaz – the consistent number one winning mini competitive group as well as a Solo Krump winner at 7 Starr’s Annual Krump Competition in Montreal, Quebec.  Joseph has been trained by Big Mijo – one of the founders of Krump who was also recently on tour with Madonna and Beyonce as well as by Konkrete – from World of Dance 2018.  Joseph was also lucky that Kaze and Konkrete gave Joseph his dance name – Just Real.  Joseph is offering to share his love of dance and the community feeling that emanates from it with a handful of younger students – if one of your children is interested, please email joy.badler@crestwood.on.ca
