Research & OUAC Applications

This is a friendly reminder to all grade 12s to keep working on your post-secondary research and refining your list of schools/programs that you would like to apply to. Below are the upcoming OUAC application seminar dates that will take place in your English classes:

  • November 15 – ENG4U-04 (Mr. Jull)
  • November 17 – ENG4U-05 (Mr. Jull)
  • November 18 – ENG4U-02 (Mr. McCluskey)
  • November 19 – ENG4U-01 (Mr. McCluskey)
  • November 22 – ENG4U-03 (Mr. Jull)

Please make sure you have your school/program list ready to go by your English seminar to make the application process go as smoothly as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to stop by the Guidance office.

 

Community Involvement Activities

On Prosper International- English Learning Buddy Program 

  • Are you interested in volunteering to tutor girls from low-income families in India to improve their spoken English abilities?
  • One Prosper International’sEnglish Learning Buddy program is a student volunteer program that provides American and Canadian high school students with the opportunity to teach English to girls from low income families in India who have limited opportunities to practice their English.
  • Once selected you will be matched with a Learning Buddy and will meet with them over Zoom once a week for a 10-week period.
  • Volunteer Requirements:
    • Every Sunday from 9:30am-10:00am EST for a 10-week period.

Squash Hunger Event – Holiday Volunteers Needed

  • Four to six volunteers are stationed at Loblaws locations across the GTA to ask customers to donate a turkey, ham or plant-based protein to Second Harvest (https://secondharvest.ca/).
  • The food collected in stores will be distributed, through our community agency partners, to people experiencing food insecurity during the holiday season.
  • By giving your time, you ensure much needed protein will be available at over 170 social service organizations so they can prepare warm, healthy meals during the holidays.
  • Shifts: 9:30am-1:30pm or 1:00pm-5:00pm
  • December 4th & 5th Locations:
    • Loblaws – Millwood & Laird – 11 Redway Rd.
    • Loblaws – Queens Quay -10 Lower Jarvis St.
    • Loblaws – Burnhamthorpe – 380 The East Mall
    • Loblaws – Dupont & Christie – 650 Dupont St.
    • Loblaws – Bathurst & Lakeshore – 500 Lakeshore Blvd.
    • Loblaws – Leslie & Lakeshore – 17 Leslie St.
    • Loblaws – Markham – 200 Bullock Dr.
  • December 11th & 12th Locations:
    • Loblaws – Victoria Park – 50 Musgrave St.
    • Loblaws – Yonge & York Mills – 3501 Yonge St.
    • Loblaws – Bayview & Moore – 301 Moore Ave.
    • Loblaws – Humbercrest – 3671 Dundas St W.
    • Loblaws – Forest Hill – 396 St Clair Ave W.

    • Loblaws – Queen & Portland – 585 Queen St W.
  • Requirements: COVID-19 vaccination, screening and masks are mandatory. Volunteers under 15 years of age must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the shift.
