Guidance News – Friday, January 18th

Counsellors visited grades 8 through 11 English classes this week to speak on course selections for the 2013-2014 school year. Staff discussed elective options, the importance of community service, and backwards mapping with each grade level. (Students who were absent for the course selection presentations will meet with Guidance early next week.) These presentations will supplement the Grade 9 and 10 Course Selection Meeting taking place at the school in the cafeteria on Thursday, January 24th.

As a reminder, subject selection sheets are due on Friday, February 8th. Enrollment forms must be submitted to the office prior to the acceptance of subject selection sheets.

Grade 12 University Application Reminders

  • Applicants should read all electronic and snail (hardcopy) mail to ensure they do not miss deadlines or supplemental information such as personal statements of experience, portfolios, interview dates, and/or auditions. Log-in information for school portals will be contained within these documents.
  • Students should ensure that University program choices are considerate of course marks. Applicants who are concerned that they may not achieve expected admissions averages should consider revising their choices. Most, however not all, Universities will allow applicants to make changes to their choices until February 5th.
  • If parents or students have any questions about the above, please see any member of the Guidance team. We would love to help!
