There is a lot of news from Guidance this week! Click to learn more about specific deadline dates and summer opportunities.

January 31st– Final date to apply to the University of British Columbia for September 2016.

February 1st– Deadline for applying to highly competitive college programs.

February 5th-Recommended last date to submit all information to the OUAC to be considered for early admission. This information includes university and program changes and additional active choices.

February 10th– Course Selection Sign Off Sheets must be submitted to Ms. Hann or Mr. Mitz in the guidance office by this date.   Re-enrollment forms and payment are also due on this date to the main office.


Summer Opportunities:

The University of Toronto’s Youth Summer Programs (YSP) offer high school students a glimpse into the life of a university student at U of T’s Medical or Law schools.

The Law YSP allows students to discuss advanced legal concepts and apply them in a variety of stimulating environments within the reality of the Canadian legal system, while the Med YSP showcases the opportunities available in the realm of medicine and medical research. The YSP takes place in the months of July and August at the downtown St. George campus, and range in length from one to six weeks.  For more information, please visit the website or stop by the guidance office to look at a brochure.

Boyd Archaeological Field School (August 5-21, 2016)

Canada’s only high school credit course based on real archaeological field work, offered in partnership between the York Region District School Board and the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority this 17 day course includes excavation of a site in Pickering and an academic classroom component.  Upon successful completion of this course, students earn a Grade 12 Interdisciplinary Studies (IDC4U) credit.  This opportunity is available to any students currently in Grade 10 or 11.  For more information, please visit the website at or stop by the guidance office.
