This week the Grade 5 classes went to the Legislative Assembly in Queen’s Park. While there, they toured the building, participated in a mini-debate, and watched a live Question Period where Kathleen Wynne was present representing the current government. They were able to see many people, roles, and procedures that they have been learning about in class, including the Sergeant-At-Arms, the Speaker, and the 107 MPP’s who make up our provincial government. Who knows, perhaps we will see some of our current Grade 5 students working in the parliament building as Legislative Pages when they are in Grade 7 and 8. It was a very interesting and inspiring trip!
