Five B has been learning all about forces – tension, torsion, compression, and bending. We have looked at how these four forces affect the structures we see in the world. As a culminating activity, we have challenged ourselves to build strong bridges using a limited number of straws, tape, paperclips, and elastic bands. We tested our bridges by stacking textbooks on our bridges to see how much force each bridge could handle.
