DECA Provincial Competition Recap

On Monday and Tuesday, fifteen students represented Crestwood Preparatory College at the DECA Provincials. The provincial competition hosted thousands of students from over 200 schools. Crestwood regularly participates in DECA competitions, allowing students to develop confidence and demonstrate leadership in a business setting.

DECA is an innovative extra-curricular program for secondary school students in Ontario that creates professional partnerships and experiential learning opportunities for students.

On Monday, students competed in the role play portion of the competition. Students were given a case study and 10 minutes to prepare. They then presented their ideas to a judge from the business community. Students were judged on their business knowledge as well as their presentation style and professionalism.

On Tuesday, students write a multiple choice exam. The 2-day competition ended with an awards ceremony where the top students in each category are honoured. Natalie Krause received an award for her case study presentation in the Quick Service Restaurant Marketing category. Justin Memar-Makhsous received an award for his written exam.

Crestwood Preparatory College would like congratulate all of our competitors for their efforts in the competition. A special thanks to Ms. Lyons and Ms. Dickinson for organizing and chaperoning the event.
