It is that time of year!! Crestwood is once again participating in our holiday toy and clothing drive: Crestwood Gives! This year we are again partnering with both Toronto Sanctuary and the Kawartha Haliburton Children’s Foundation to help several families in need during the Holiday season. Each homeroom is paired with a family in need. The gift contributions range from household items, such as cleaning products and linens, to outdoor clothes, toys and food. We will be picking up the donated items on Friday Dec. 5 during homeroom and period 2. Crestwood Preparatory College has a strong reputation for their dedication and generosity towards those in need. Thank you in advance for participating in such a wonderful initiative this holiday season.
Kawartha- Haliburton Children’s Foundation
The Kawartha-Haliburton Childen’s Foundation raises and disperses funds and supplies for the children who are involved with the KHCAS so that they can enjoy the simple pleasures that most children take for granted. We help the kids have a happier childhood by offering them positive experiences and services that will help lift their spirits and allow them to just be a kid and have fun.
We help them:
• discover their soul and talent through the arts
• experience the joy of paddling a canoe at camp or scoring a goal in organized hockey
• experience success through graduating with a post-secondary diploma.
These joyful experiences help them reach their potential and give them hope for their future.
Toronto Sanctuary
Sanctuary is a Christian charitable organization that seeks to establish and develop a holistic, inclusive and healthy community. We welcome people who have, for the most part, known only rejection and abuse. Our core community includes:
– people who are homeless and people who run their own businesses
– middle-aged, middle-class people and squeegee kids
– university students and hardened street people.
Sharing our lives and our resources, we reach out to a downtown neighborhood plagued with homelessness, drugs, prostitution, unemployment and AIDS. We offer dignity, support and direction to people who want to reclaim healthy, meaningful lives. Through drop-ins, street outreach and one-to-one relationships, we offer food, clothing and basic health care.
