The Crestwood School U12 Boys basketball team defeated the UCC Blues 37-32 at Glendon College Gymnasium. We began strong with baskets by Josh Mason, Ben Hamblin, and Sam Miller and took control of the first quarter with great hustle and passing by Edward Li, Matthew White, Max Noteboom and Macaulay Harling. UCC came back with some points in the second quarter taking the lead 17 to 16 but we fought on. In the third quarter our team once again took the lead with baskets by Sam Miller, Josh Mason, Ben Hamblin, and Edward Li making the score 29 to 27 for Crestwood. In the middle of the fourth quarter the score was tied with both teams sinking baskets and playing inspired defence. With 2 minutes left in the game and the score tied at 30-30 Josh Mason sunk 2 free throws, allowing us to gain a 2 point advantage which we would not relinquish. We claimed victory with the final score 35-32 with steady play from Jacob Newman, Cole Marotta, and Julian Silver. All members of our squad worked extremely hard and left nothing on the court. Terrific first game! The coaches want to thank all members of the U12 basketball team for their outstanding effort and sportsmanship. We look forward to our next game on December 4 against Sterling Hall.
