CPC is Victorious Over Trinity College!

Soccer

A big congrats to the Varsity Girls’ Soccer team on their first very convincing win of the season.  Wednesday the ladies traveled to Port Hope to face Trinity College.  Despite the rain and cold the lady Lions started out quick with Julia Lee scoring our first two goals.  Jahnai Brown followed with 2 of her own before our newcomer Zakayla Day -Burrell wrapped it up with one of her own.  Congrats ladies!

Crestwood’s U14 Girls’ Soccer played their first game against the York School Wednesday night. Despite the rain and lack of substitutes, the girls maintained a positive attitude and excelled at teamwork. The York School ended up gaining two unlucky goals on us and claimed the 3-1 win. Shoutout to Jordan Nikolov for leading the girls! Game highlights include Chiara Codron’s incredible goal and Taylor Howell’s brave saves.

Rugby

The Junior Boys’ Rugby played four tough, wet, soggy matches at Cherry Beach Wednesday night, tying twice and losing the others.  Some of the boys had never played the sport of rugby in their lives, but came out flying, making quite an impression on their coaches and teammates. Kudos to Aidan Kay who was absolutely fearless on the field, hitting everything that moved and scoring multiple full field tries. Ege Kuseybat put on a great defensive display, knocking a variety of opponents out of bounds. Hats off to Callum Braund for controlling the field at scrum half and Jet Lam for his crushing hits.  Well done boys!

Ultimate Frisby

Wednesday Crestwood’s Ultimate team travelled to Albert College for their season opener. CPC’s Lions rose to the challenge and played an amazing game with skill and above all great sportsmanship. Even though we lost, the team made Albert work hard for every point; so hard in fact that we played a solid 8 minutes before a point was scored. The players on both sides were so  committed to the game that at one point we were even cheering for the other team! Now that’s a true demonstration of Spirit of the Game. We saw unbelievable catches from Russell Koffman, Joe Han and Ella Lee O’Rourke. Our handlers stepped up and made incredible tosses and a shout goes to Katie Tuns, Robert Muresan, Jamie Reinish, Anthony Radford-Grant, and Armani Mighty. We have to highlight the amazing defence from Peter Hull, Kayla Drummond, Samara Black, Imani Mighty, and Justin Soberman. Our next game is a home game here at Crestwood on Tuesday May 1st. Come out and see us in action!!

Softball

Wednesday, the U14 Boys’ Softball team opened their season on the road with a game vs. Albert College.  Playing on a picturesque field overlooking the lake, the boys stormed out to an early 7-3 lead.  The team used keen eyes to work the pitch count and get on base with walks, allowing Zack Graff and Samir Nejad to bring in five runs with timely hitting.  Zack also had a great debut pitching effort.  However, shoddy defence eventually caused the lead to evaporate.  Despite a valiant effort, the boys lost a nail biter 10-8.  Good luck to the team as they try to even their record with a game vs. Montcrest Monday afternoon.
