CPC Rugby Blitzes Through Holy Trinity

Rugby

Thursday afternoon the U14 Rugby team traveled to Country Day for a 4 game tournament against Country Day, Greenwood and Holy Trinity.  The U14 team played valiantly as they won their game against Holy Trinity 4 – 1, tied their match with Country Day 2 – 2 and fell short to Greenwood 5 – 0.  Great job team, keep up the good work.

The Junior Boys had their first home games of the season Wednesday, playing three hard fought matches in the outdoor sunshine. Crestwood grabbed a shutout victory in their first match, barely having to defend their own half due to hard runs from Jonas Weissland and consistent tackling from Callum Braund.  The boys dropped the second match to a very athletic opponent, but showed a great deal of defense from Cam Frank and bursts of energy from Ege Kusebayat and Adam Bounsall.  The last match of the day was extremely close, with HTS hitting a controversial convert to tie the game on the final play.  Well done lads!

Ultimate Frisbee

Tuesday, the Crestwood Ultimate team welcomed Rosseau Lake College for their home opening game. CPC brought some serious enthusiasm and effort to combat RLC’s veteran roster of players. Although we lost, the energy of the CPC Lions was palpable, made even better by the opportunity to have fun and play on our home field in the much awaited heat of the sun. The entire team effort to keep possession of the disk on our single, much celebrated point was scored in the end by Armani Mighty. Honourable mentions go out to Max Dolman, Faith Joseph and Imani Mighty for some great defensive plays. The “those hands are on fire!” award goes out to Alex Fallows, Katie Tuns, and Peter Hull for some amazing handling. Moreover, the cutting skills of Megan Pearlman, Sierra Little, and Robert Muresan were impressive to say the least! Last but not least, congratulations to Armani Mighty and Faith Joseph who were selected by RLC as our most spirited players in yesterday’s game. We’re looking forward to our next game at Bayview Glen on Tuesday, May 8th!

Soccer

Congratulations once again to the Varsity Girls soccer on their win Monday night against Albert College.  The girls played well with special mention to Julia Lee who had two goals.  Awesome job ladies!

Track and Field

Wednesday, the Varsity Track and Field team competed at Birchmount Park Collegiate Institute for the first meet of the season. Special shoutout to: Alexa for her second place throw in the Javelin, Kyra for her fifth place finish running a personal best time in the 3000m (that’s 7.5 laps on the track), and Victor, Adam, Jacob, Minh and Roger for surviving the Steeplechase.  Congratulations to the whole team on a great start to the season!

Softball

The Crestwood U14 Softball team traveled to Riverdale West park on Monday afternoon for a game against Montcrest. The game started off close, when an inside the park home run from Ryder Fogel gave Crestwood a spark of energy. Unfortunately, Montcrest’s bats could not be cooled down, and they took the win.

The Crestwood Varsity Slow-pitch team traveled to Richmond Hill Green Wednesday afternoon for their first Tri-Meet of the season. The team faced some tough competition in that of HTS and HSC.  Both games started off close, but experience got the better of us, and we finished 0-2 on the day.  Our next Tri-Meet is next week Wednesday.
