On February 23rd, Crestwood’s U12 basketball team traveled to King City to compete in the final tournament of their season. The boys entered the playoffs as underdogs, but came out as champions defeating Crescent School in the tournament final.
Throughout the tournament, the Crestwood boys put on a defensive clinic, playing fundamentally sound man-to-man defence and executing quick rotations. They also dominated the glass, out rebounding opponents by an average margin of 10 boards. Crestwood showed great patience on the offensive end, making smart passes and running plays with great precision.
In their semi-final game versus Montcrest, it seemed as though the season had come to an end – with Montcrest up 1 point and only 15 seconds to play. However, in the dying seconds of the game Collin MacLauchlan found Jordan Kim down low for the game winning shot.
Crestwood was dominant in the finals, beating Crescent school by a decisive margin.
Coaches Conn and Brenzel could not be more proud of the team’s hard work, dedication and teamwork displayed throughout the season.
Congratulations go to team members: Colin MacLauchlan, Jordan Kim, Gys Noteboom, Jack Hendry, Daniel Lax, Cole Marotta, Aaron Vidal-Ribas Smith, Ethan Adler, Mason MacMurray, Harrison Stone, Matteo Licata, Dylan and Kyle Adud.
