On Tuesday, February 18th, Crestwood was proud to host Black History Month performances by local black musicians John T Davis, Shelley Hamilton and Shaun Boothe. Through a blend of live performance, historical narrative and interactive presentations, Crestwood students were enlightened as to the historic role of music in black communities in their quest for freedom and equality. By learning about the very real connection between black consciousness and the will to create beautiful, soulful music, students were encouraged to consider their own creative impulses in the formation of their own identities. Thank you to everyone who participated in this great event!
