Crestwood School’s recent “Skip It” fundraising initiative focused on the Typhoon Haiyan relief efforts.
The “Skip It” fundraiser asks participants to skip/give up/sacrifice a treat or privilege, and to donate the money that would have been spent to the fundraiser. This is an opportunity for our students to make the conscious choice to give to people in need, without receiving material incentives. The emphasis is on the act of giving, not the dollar amount.
Our fund-raising ran from Nov 25-29 and among the 166 students and teachers that participated we raised $2980.11.
Once we added in our Toonie Tuesday proceeds, the donation rose to $3384.11 With the Canadian government’s matching donation, our donation represents…$6768.22.
A special thanks to the Crestwood School Student House Heads who worked very hard in preparing for the initial assembly and in the organizing of the “Skip It” giving tree.
