At Crestwood, we are proud of the commitment we have made to Community Service. We are beginning the 2013-14 school year with our annual Terry Fox Walk/Run which will take place in the afternoon of Thursday, September 26th, 2013. Students should be dressed in their House t-shirts, Crestwood gym shorts or track pants and running shoes.
The Terry Fox Run will have two routes, a shorter one for our Primary students and a longer one for the Junior students. All classes will participate with their teachers and will receive a certificate of completion of their run. The goals of our Terry Fox Run are fun, fitness and fund raising for the Terry Fox Foundation for Cancer Research. Last year we raised $5,104.25 and placed in the top 20 elementary schools in Ontario. We are proud to announce that since 1995 we have raised $172,394.95 for Cancer Research.
We are requesting that all paper pledge forms and money be handed in by Friday, October 11th, 2013. Students are reminded that while collecting pledges is important , they should ask family members and friends rather than strangers for a commitment. The amount of the pledge is not important; a contribution of a loonie is just as meaningful. All parents and guardians are invited to participate in this event. If you choose to participate with your child, please arrive at your child’s classroom by 2:15pm or meet us at the Glendon College Field. We are scheduled to begin the run at 2:30pm. Please be mindful of bringing your dog to this event as there will be over 300 children running/walking through a tight course.
We look forward to seeing you on Thursday, Sept. 26th.
