Nick is from Homeland, a fictional country, and moves to Canada with his parents. His mother makes it seem as though the transition should be easy, but when he goes to school and realizes that English is more challenging than he expected, he finds things a little difficult. Making it even worse is that Mog, a Canadian boy, bullies him because he is an immigrant.
Crestwood Preparatory College presents Dennis Foon’s “New Canadian Kid” as a part of the Sears Ontario Drama Festival, being performed at Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts on Thursday, February 28th at 7:00pm. Tickets are $8.00 and can be purchased at the door, or are available from Ms. Bryant. The show is all student run!
See what it is like to be new to Canada and experience homesickness and heartache. Foon puts you in the shoes of Nick himself, as the Canadians speak “English,” which is scripted gibberish! A fun tale of what it’s like to be the new kid on the block.
